    Strategic Decisions Impacts over the Performance of Companies, Industries and Countries

    Analysis of the change process in financial markets and financial intermediation in Brazil;Study on the high volatility of financial actives prices and the macroeconomic instability; The decreasing presence of the State in markets and the pressures caused by competition and international instability.

    Financial Decision Making in Risk and Uncertainty Settings

    The high volatility observed in the many financial assets, both in terms of Brazil or internationally, makes the incorporation of the risk and uncertainty factors a must in financial models.

    Because of that, research lines on Finance contemplate financial modelling based on the quantification of the impact of uncertainties, focusing on the risk analysis, under the Real Options and Derivatives Theory perspective, where the flexibility of decisions is moulded according todifferent financial assets’ stochastic processes, and also in the area of Energy economy and Finance, emphasizing decision making in infrastructure projects.

    The Financial Econometrics and Valuation lines are the base for the development and enhancement of models, and the Behaviourist Finance Theory is also contemplated as financial agents’ irrationality is incorporated to the risk management.

    Marketing strategies’ dynamics according tomacro and microenvironments; safeguarding adequate performance levels; strategic decision process’ interactive feedback; marketing strategies flexibilization and the challenge of globalized competition.

    Organizational Studies and Work Relations

    The research line central focus is aimed at organizations’ management and people management. It encompasses research in four areas of concentration:

    (1) Organizational Studies: about theories, management models, organizational structures and processes; knowledge learning and management.
    (2) Critical perspectives about organizations; organizational communication and speeches; history, memory and organizations;
    (3) Studies about behaviour in organizations: principles and attitudes; diversity in organizations; managerial abilities, leadership and power; health and well being at work; organizational environment, culture and change; and
    (4) Studies about sense and work relations; people and career management.
