KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION

The IAG PUC-Rio Business School’s graduate program in Business Administration is divided into three programs: academic master’s program, professional graduate program, and doctoral program, all of which are on business administration. Each course is strongly interconnected and is based on the same core principals and ideals.

The Academic Master’s program focuses on preparing students to undergo Doctoral Courses (at IAG PUC-Rio or any other national or international prestigious institution) and face the job market. The program prides itself on taking an interdisciplinary approach. Therefore, students with undergraduate or master’s degrees in related fields such as economics, engineering, computing, psychology, neuroscience, political science, sociology, statistics, and applied mathematics, among others, are very welcome.

The Doctoral program’s main objective is to prepare the student for the academic life of a professor-researcher at a university or an academic institution, either in Brazil or abroad, and to contribute to society with new scientific knowledge. The program aims to forge strong teachers and researchers of the administrative phenomenon. It is aimed at training high-performance doctors in public and private companies and teacher-researchers who can effectively contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Administration.

The IAG PUC-Rio Academic Graduate Program in Business Administration offers methodological and conceptual training equivalent to that offered by its international peers, as well as knowledge and differentiated access to the various contexts of the Brazilian reality. The program emphasizes the generation and dissemination of research through publications in top-level journals in Administration and related areas. As both the Academic Master’s and Doctoral courses are full-time, the daily presence of these students at the School is expected throughout the entire duration of the program. They will be participating in class activities, seminars, discussions, and undergoing research, thus strengthening the program’s academic culture. Master’s and doctoral students have an exclusive working environment.

The Professional Master’s Program emphasizes content and methods which provide students with high-level professional capabilities. The course is highly practical, seeking to meet any needs of professionals interested in strengthening their academic training and applying it in actual businesses. Our mission is to train executives who will be prepared to make complex and innovative decisions under pressure in dynamic organizations.

The Brazilian reality is complex, requiring a Professional Master’s Program in Business Administration that prepares its students to work in a volatile and challenging business environment, in which the ability to create business opportunities is fundamental. In response to this challenge, the job market has been recruiting students and alumni from IAG PUC-Rio for management and senior management positions in public and private companies. The course is part-time, that is, it can be reconciled with work routines, since the classes are in the evening, after business hours.
